STIRLING · A COMMUNITY MEMORIAL PROJECT

Remembering Together

Marking the time of the pandemic, together

A memorial project across Stirling, exploring people's experiences of the Covid-19 pandemic — and how we might meaningfully mark this time together.

THE PROJECT

Time, nature, and being together again.

Led by Saffy Setohy and delivered with a team of collaborators, with support from Artlink Central / Scene Stirling, Remembering Together set out to mark a shared time in community.

Phase 1 involved creative consultation and activities with varied community groups — working with themes of time and nature as a lens through which to have conversation, move, make art, and imagine future possibilities together.

Close-up of three pairs of hands passing a small pine cone branch at a craft table with natural materials.
Older adult facilitator leans in to support a younger participant drawing at an outdoor table surrounded by lavender plants.
Line of children raise a long printed fabric banner overhead beneath golden autumn trees in a park on a rainy day.
Children form a large circle dance on a sunny town square while a violinist in orange plays at the centre.

The pandemic changed our sense of time, impermanence and sensory aliveness — bringing us in touch with cycles and seasons of life, death, beginnings and endings, and new rituals.

PHASE TWO: YEAR OF THE WHEEL

A year shaped by the seasonal calendar.

Reflecting all that the pandemic stirred, Phase 2 was shaped by the seasonal calendar and the Celtic Wheel of the Year.

This offered a framework for creativity, nature connection, and different ways of being together — marking time in community as we moved through the year-long timescale of the project.

Six adults stand around a radial log installation on grass, led by a facilitator with arms open, trees behind.
